Impact Alabama’s fundamental staffing model relies on employing talented, intelligent, and socially conscious recent college graduates for one or two years following graduation. Our team members travel statewide to implement our signature initiatives, earning only a modest stipend for their tremendous service.

Helen Barnes

Helen Barnes, a native of Alpharetta, Ga, and a recipient of the Julia Tutwiler academic scholarship, graduated cum laude with honors from the University of Alabama in May 2011 with a B.A. in anthropology and a minor in general business. At Alabama, Helen was a three year member of the NCAA Division 1 Women’s Rowing Team, earning a Varsity letter. She was also named to the Alabama Women’s Rowing All-Academic team and twice to the SEC Spring Honor Roll. She was awarded the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association Scholar Athlete Award two years in a row. Helen was also a charter member of her sorority Alpha Phi and was initiated into the Greek honor society, Order of Omega. As an Alpha Phi, Helen was engaged in multiple philanthropic events to raise funds and awareness for women’s heart health. Following her time with Impact, she plans to attend graduate school.
