Impact Alabama’s fundamental staffing model relies on employing talented, intelligent, and socially conscious recent college graduates for one or two years following graduation. Our team members travel statewide to implement our signature initiatives, earning only a modest stipend for their tremendous service.

Lorie Creel

Lorie Creel, a native of Cullman, AL, graduated cum laude in May 2009 from the University of Alabama with a B.A. in religious studies and a minor in computer-based honors. She attended the University as a National Merit Scholar. In 2007, Lorie helped develop the Alabama Virtual Incubator Project, which focused on developing solutions for economic growth of small businesses in disadvantaged areas. In 2008, she and a colleague created an ACT preparatory course specifically designed for underprivileged students. Lorie also served as Elliott Society President, through which she created many service projects to benefit children and veterans. As an Alabama Action Leader, Lorie led several school renovation projects and created and taught lessons helping children to set and achieve goals. Lorie served as an AWANA leader, Upward Basketball coach, Upward Flag Football Referee, and Full Court / Kids Club leader as a volunteer at Calvary Baptist Church. In the summers of 2008 and 2009, Lorie served as a summer missionary for the North American Mission Board in Sanford, FL, creating and implementing programs for children and youth. For five years, Lorie has owned a tutoring company with the goal of helping students succeed in math. While at the University, Lorie earned a Jane Nix Outstanding Service Award, Computer-Based Honors Fellowship, and an MIS Certificate of Merit. She also earned a black belt in U.S. Yoshukai Karate. Lorie is currently pursuing her Alternative Masters of Elementary Education. Following her time with Impact, she plans to pursue a career as an elementary school teacher.
